| Westchester
Elementary School opened in 1956 with an enrollment of 149 students.
Currently, we serve approximately 425 students from the Kirkwood,
Des Peres, Frontenac, and St. Louis City communities. Today's staff
includes one principal, two secretaries, a full-time nurse, counselor,
32 teachers and 17 support staff personnel.
When Westchester
opened, the school included seven classrooms and a multi-purpose
room. Over the years, additional construction has been completed
five separate times in order to accommodate a growing population.
Currently there are now 29 classrooms, two gymnasiums, a cafeteria,
library, conference room, computer lab, music and art rooms. Westchester
lies on approximately ten acres, with two newly remodeled playgrounds
and a wooded wildlife center. |
