6th Grade Art Program
NKMS

The art program for our 6th graders is one of seven Exploratory classes for them to sample as a new student in the middle school program. Each Explo rotation is four weeks in length. In our art program the students are introduced to the basic art disciplines : art history, art criticism, aesthetics and art production. Students have the opportunity to explore the seven basic elements of art through hands-on activities that involve various media techniques in both two-dimensional and three dimensional projects. Whenever possible the art curriculum integrates with other subjects taught in the sixth grade to assist in multi-intelligence learning. Evaluation is based on student participation, understanding of vocabulary and media, behavior and attitude.
